This captures it all - swells so high, ocean roaring and we are rolling like no tomorrow. Bars to say we have been on this boat for the last 2 weeks and we are nearly in CapeTown. I had things falling out of shelves and cupboards, multiple side steps just to make it to the point right in front of you. Dinner chair rolling as the ship lists and hands stretching out to hold on to your grub. Giggles and laughter all around at how we all just look ridiculous. Doors banging, waves crashing, cold winds and warm cuddles. #justanotherdayontheAFMsail #thisisawesome #everythingnisawesome #nokrakeninsight (at Atlantic Ocean)
MERCY SHIPS UPDATE: WHERE ON EARTH ARE WE HEADED TO??
So the wait is over guys! We have hot news and we can finally share it with the world.
We are headed for MADAGASCAR!!! Yes it’s a MAD time with a MAD destination and I am exhilarated!:)
We left Las Palmas late Saturday afternoon, and are now currently sailing in the Atlantic Ocean. We’ll be docking in SOUTH AFRICA for a wee bit (probably a few weeks) before starting our service in Madagascar.
The long wait is over! And thank you all for your prayers and thoughts.
We continue to keep our eye on the Ebola situation and we continue to pray for our African brothers and sisters. Many of our west African crew currently on board are from countries affected by Ebola and they have family and friends who live in that real danger. Our crew are safe and were not in affected areas prior to coming to the AFM.
To all my mail list members, I will be sending out a massive email soon as an update with details. But for now, just wanted to inform all my friends and family :)
There are moments when adversity hits and the war rages within. I often ask the question “when will this stop” but truth is, I should wonder about the person I might become after this. As I stood on the edge of this volcanic island, staring out at the ocean, I started to pray that my strength would not wane, that my hope would not whither. I sang and prayed, basking in the Canarian sun. Staring out at the horizon, I cried a little, feeling the embrace of my Father.
It was an epic weekend, traversing the circumference of this little island we have all called home for a few weeks. Unexpected circumstances have churned out unexpected adventures, fostered unexpected friendships and created unexpected memories. Would we have thought a few moths ago that we would be here doing this right now? Most of us would say no, this was indeed unexpected. I continue to trust my Heavenly Father, that though my steps ahead remain uncertain, still I will close my eyes, take a deep breath, and gladly free fall right into His strong, warm and comforting embrace. #grancanaria #canaryislands #spain #mercyships #wonderfullife #fullofgoodlookingpeople
It was worth it. Adventures are best made when you get lost once in a while. A day out with the beautiful girls while we continue to prepare for the unknown. Slipped on the rocks at the beach, displaced half my left big toenail, still managed to drive manual for the rest of the day and hiked about 2km in flip flops. Was a pretty neat kind of day. #irreplaceable @aehumphrey @pippanpearls @naomiareid (at Roque Nublo - Gran Canaria)
